After witnessing her father murder her mother, a young Slovak girl named Lea(Lenka Vlasakova) is stricken mute, communicating only through writing andpoetry. She is again thrust into a strange world when her foster parentsarrange her marriage to a much older gentleman (Christian Redl) who also suffers a traumatic past. Their relationship seems doomed, but a bond soon grows as they learn more about each other.
